We all know peanut butter & jelly sandwiches are a staple for our kids. The recent recall of Peter Pan & Great Value peanut butter is especially worrisome for parents and children. Children are at an increased risk of serious illness due to this foodborne illness. Recent experience with e coli and hamburgers and spinach have demonstrated how deadly foodborne illness are to children. Beware...
I received two calls this afternoon, one from a local Florida person who has been stricken with food poisoning from contaminated peanut butter. The principal cause of the foodborne illness with the peanut butter is salmonella which started showing up in August 2006. The peanut butter in question has been processed at the ConAgra Foods plant in Sylvester, GA and the brand names to be wary of...
Attorney Richard Schleuter, our Injury Board colleague in Atlanta, has brought up an important point about the peanut butter recall. If you've been sick or been poisoned by salmonella as a result of eating Peter Pan peanut butter, save the jar of peanut butter, it's evidence and will prove that you indeed consumed that brand of peanut butter. Thanks, Richard for the great post!
Federal health officials have recalled two brands of peanut butter because the product has been linked to a salmonella outbreak. Peter Pan and Great Value peanut butter brands beginning with a product code "2111" were being removed from store shelves yesterday. The salmonella outbreak, which began last August, has been linked to peanut butter produced by ConAgra Foods in a plant in Sylvester,...
In a February 14th posting, I inadvertently wrote that Taser International had settled a lawsuit in Colorado. In actual fact, the lawsuit involving a taser weapon was settled by the town of Carbondale, not Taser International. I want to thank Michael Brave of Taser for contacting us and drawing our attention to this inaccuracy.
Charles Dix, a former Escambia County Sheriff's Deputy, has been sentenced to probation and house arrest for misusing his taser. The deputy's reckless behavior has led to two civil settlements against the sheriff's department. Taser Internationalhas aggressively boasted of its court victories in numerous press releases but now the tide seems to be turning against the company and its reckless...
The town of Carbondale Colorado has settled a taser lawsuit for an undisclosed amount. The lawsuit was filed as a result of a police officer using his taser during a routine traffic stop. According to the lawsuit, the police officer violated the man's civil rights as well as the use of cruel and unusual punishment. The officer allegedly fired the taser weapon at the victim several times.
