A panic-striken mother of three watched as passers-by tried to save her three children from the murky waters of a pond on I-4. Her van left the highway and flipped into the water leaving her three children trapped in the sunken vehicle. The rescuers, who were being called heroes, were two Disney employees, a timeshare salesman and Wal-Mart employee on his way to his second job. All of them dove into the pond without hesitation after seeing the vehicle in the water. The three children had to be cut out of their seats after being in the water for about 7 minutes and they were not breathing when they came out. Some of the rescuers performed CPR while the others continue to look for the other children. The oldest of the children, a 6 year-old boy, appeared to be fine after his trip to the hospital, but the 3 year-old girl and 1 year-old boy were listed in critical condtion.

Although no immediate cause of the auto accident was determined, Florida Highway Patrol noticed a temporary “donut” on the left rear of the van which may turn out to be a contributing factor in the crash.
