You’ve Got to Dance With Them What Brung You
, humorist Molly Ivins observes:
When you look at political money in the aggregate, more than 60% comes from organized corporate special interests and they get what they pay for. Except that the rest of us end up paying for it eventually. Corporate welfare, tax breaks, subsidies, loop holes: its breathtaking, its astonishing. The shift in the burden of taxation from corporations to individual taxpayers is stunning, and the shift from wealthy individuals to those who are the losers in an increasingly two-tiered economy is almost as striking.
