A plane crash in Volusia County resulted in severe injuries to the 74 year old pilot. The plane crash was caused by mechanical problems that started shortly after the single-engine Swift GC1A aircraft took off from the New Symrna Beach, Florida airport. The plane crashed into trees and no one on the ground was hurt. The pilot was transported to Halifax Hospital in Daytona Beach for treatment of his injuries.
