The Legal Aid Society of the Orange County Bar Association recognized Orman L. Kimbrough, Jr. as one of this year’s recipients of its Individual Award of Excellence. Each year the Board of Trustees of the Legal Aid Societyselectsan attorney, or attorneys, based on their contributions topro bono legal assistance. The criteria includes but is not limited to:
– significant pro bono cases over several years;
– emphasis on the average number of pro bono hours spent each year;
– number of cases closed in excess of 25 hours over the years.
Mr. Kimbrough has handled pro bono family law cases and has closed 37 cases in the last 20 years. Upon receiving the award, he acknowledged “It is the privilege of each lawyer to serve his community by providing legal service both directly and indirectly. However, it is more importantly the responsibility of each lawyer to contribute to the community by donating time, talent and resources in private, civic and cultural matters.”
