A near drowning occurred at a pool at Mickey’s Retreat, a recreation area/park for Disney workers and their families, reports the Orange County Fire Rescue. A man was rescued from the pool about 2:20 PM at the Mickey’s Retreat park in the Little Lake Bryan community, east of Lake Buena Vista.

Lifeguards pulled the man from the pool and were doing cardiopulmonary resuscitation, firefighters responded to the emergency call within minutes. The man was taken to a nearby Orlando hospital about half an hour after the incident occurred.

Mickey’s Retreat is a part of hidden Disney adventures reserved only for Cast Members and their families. The retreat features a private pool, beach and boat rentals available for hard working men and women who help make Disney enjoyable for thousands of Orlando tourists.

Swimming pool tourist injuries are not surprising in Orlando’s theme parks and hotel pools. Recently a 13-year-old boy was pulled from a hotel swimming pool at a Holiday Inn on S. Atlantic Avenue. The boy is believed to have been under water for several minutes before someone spotted and pulled him out of water. Emergency CPR was started on scene until emergency responders arrived. By the time rescue workers arrived, the teenager began to breathe on his own, but was unresponsive. He remains in critical condition in a nearby pediatric intensive care unit.

An Orlando injury lawyer can provide guidance if you have been injured while visiting one of the many theme parks in Florida.
