The Florida Turnpike was shut down near Clermont last Wednesday evening due a massive tractor trailer accident. The driver of a tractor-trailer that was headed north skidded out of control on the wet pavement and crossed the median. The center guardrail was no match for the semi as it veered into oncoming south-bound traffic. The second tractor-trailer driver tried to miss the other semi headed directly toward him and pulled his vehicle to the right causing him to side swipe a vehicle in the right lane. The northbound semi then plowed into the both of them, causing the semis gas tank to explode and catch on fire. There were 5 injuries as result of the accident.

A third tractor-trailer driver who was hauling a tanker full of gasoline trailer was interviewed by the local telelvision stations. He said he just missed hitting the wreckage by 5 – 6 seconds.
