The Tampa Tribune reported that 37 vehicles and 100 people were involved in a series of auto accidents that occurred on Interstate 4 Tuesday night. The crashes began just before 7 p.m. when one car hit the brakes and other cars started crashing into him. Then, everyone else started colliding into each other, one motorist described. In total, there were four incidents involving collisions (three in the westbound lanes and one eastbound). The multiple accidents blocked the interstate, making the three westbound lanes look like a lit parking lot. Traffic backed up for more than five miles and closed portions of the highway for more than three hours. Wreckers constantly pulled vehicles from the scene. Five people suffered minor injuries.
