According to a story attributed to the Associated Press appearing in the Orlando Sentinel on August 10th, the Chinese Governmental Agency responsible for product quality, inspection, and quarantine has issued a temporary ban on exports by the maker of lead tainted children’s toys. Toys involved at this time were the plastic Fisher-Price products for very young children, including Big Bird, Elmo, Dora and Diego and additionally, Thomas wooden railway products.

It remains to be seen whether future action by this agency will prevent defective and dangerous products from being shipped to the United States for distribution.
