Is having a monster jump out at you with blood all over their face your idea of fun? Yeah, me neither. Anyhow, with amusement parks and local businesses putting on haunted house type events in the coming weeks — here are some safety        tips that you may want to keep in mind.

  • Look for lighted areas when parking.
  • Make note of where your vehicle is.
  • Know your group. If you have a person who is easily scared do not bring them as they could injure others in the mazes.
  • Set up a meeting point if any of your group gets lost. Children (over the age of 14) should be with groups of friends or with adult        guardians at all time.
  • Walk around first, get to know the layout of the event. Take a look at the facilities.
  • Keep your group together to wait your turn into the haunt to keep line speed up.
  • The date you go to a haunted event can be important. Haunts begin slow and increase each weekend. Saturday nights tend to be the        busiest, followed by Friday and Sundays.
  • Follow the rules. No touching of the actors or sets.
  • No running.
  • No smoking.
  • Do not using your cell phone or text while walking through a maze. The cell phone light can knock out carefully designed scenic        lighting, ruining the experience for others.
  • Be courteous in the group. No pushing or shoving ahead of others.
  • If you’re a woman, keep from bringing in a purse. Instead, any money you’ll need, keep it in a secure place on your person.
  • These events tend to draw a rough crowd. So travel in groups.

In closing, keep your wits around you, be prepared, and have fun!
