According to the Orlando Sentinel, the popular Harry Potter and the Forbidden Journey ride has experienced its first significant guest injury during the first quarter of 2011. A state record filed by the theme park shows that Universal Studio’s one-year old and very popular Harry Potter ride injured two people. The theme park reported a 60-year old man suffered a brief loss of consciousness and a 57-year-old man suffered chest pains. The incidents occurred between January 1 and March 31, according to the theme park’s report to state regulators. Florida’s theme parks voluntarily submit tourist injuries reports to state regulators in order to avoid state ride-safety regulations, which may negatively affect the theme parks or their tourism. No other tourist injuries at Universal Studios were reported for the period.
Walt Disney World reported three injuries for the same period. A 29-year-old woman experienced symptoms of an anaphylactic reaction aboard Splash Mountain. A 75-year-old woman broke a knee while on the load platform for Peter Pan’s Flight ride, and an 8-year-old boy fell in the Honey I Shrunk The Kids Movie Set Adventure.
