Local Surgeon Fined for Operating in Wrong Place

According to the Orlando Sentinel Business Section – 1/2/08, Dr. Lawrence S. Halperin of Orlando a surgeon with Orlando Orthopaedic Associates committed medical malpractice and was fined $15,000 by the Florida State Medical regulatory agency overseeing surgeons for cutting incisions on the wrong fingers during two unrelated hand operations in 2007 and 2008. The physician claimed that he eventually operated on the correct fingers.
