In 2014, we independently obtained the following information via consumer and employee feedback on the following theme parks in the Orlando, Florida area:
- Universal Studios Orlando, Orlando, Florida, USA, 47 Significant Injuries – 22 injuries on The Simpsons Ride. Riders have reported having their neck whipped around, with one rider saying as she rode with her daughter, her neck cracked and then tightened up.
- Universal Studios Islands of Adventure, Orlando, Florida, USA, 68 Significant Injuries – No reported injuries reported on The Amazing Adventures of Spider-Man. We did receive information regarding riders wearing prescription glasses and contacts having issues with their vision after riding as well as painful headaches.
- SeaWorld Orlando, Orlando, Florida, USA, 41 Significant Injuries – 12 Injuries reported on Manta. 8 chest related injuries with issues breathing. 3 riders indicated that they were of bigger stature and “barely fit” into the restraint and it was the reason they were injured. 4 black outs. 3 of the black outs included a bloody nose.
- Disney’s Animal Kingdom, Lake Buena Vista, Florida, USA, 44 Significant Injuries – 24 injuries on Dinosaur. 15 neck and 9 back related injuries. Sudden, rough, jerky, painful movements were common complaints. 21 disproven injuries due to riders with previous medical issues. Those previous medical conditions included riders riding with current neck and back issues.
- Disney’s Epcot, Lake Buena Vista, Florida, USA, 29 Significant Injuries – 27 injuries on Mission Space. 27 riders exited ride with blurry vision and issues walking. 6 of these riders said they blacked out on the ride.
- Disney’s Hollywood Studios at Walt Disney World, Lake Buena Vista, Florida, USA, 38 Significant Injuries – 14 injuries on Rock ‘n’ Roller Coaster. 11 neck and 3 back related injuries. 10 disproven injuries due to riders with previous medical issues.
- Disney’s Magic Kingdom, Lake Buena Vista, Florida, USA, 26 Significant Injuries – 8 injuries on Big Thunder Mountain Railroad. 8 back related injuries. 22 disproven injuries due to riders with previous medical issues. This included riders with high blood pressure riding and feeling ride would be, “no big deal.”
