Check Tire Pressure To Avoid Car Accidents

Comments Off

We all know that our tires should be inflated to a specific level but not everyone knows that low tire pressure and hot weather can be a deadly combination. Under inflated tires can lead to impaired steering, traction, and braking of the vehicle. These safety issues are compounded when combined with hot roads and often overloaded vehicles full of travelers and gear headed on vacation. The weight, heat and under inflation of the tires can also cause the tires to rapidly wear down tread and can lead to tire failure and car crashes.

NHTSA has issued an advisory to help motorists recognize the dangers of under inflation of tires and the potential cause of auto accidents. In fact estimates are the tire related problems kill 660 people and injure over 33,000 people each year in car accidents. These could all be avoided with proper attention to the maintenance and safety of the tires on your car.
